Kurunagala District is identified as one of the Leprosy medium risk districts in Sri Lanka consists of 29 Divisional Secretariat Divisions. Only Galgamuwa and Bingiriya DSDs show continued transmission of both adult and child leprosy. Kotawehera, Abanpola and Udubaddawa DSDs has achieved the leprosy eliminated status.
