Sri Lanka is one of the priority country of the World Health Organization to control leprosy in the South East Asian region with approximately 2000 new leprosy cases reported annually over the past 2 decades. Case detection rate was fluctuating between 7-12 new cases per 100,000 population. But the new case detection reduced up to 4-5 per 100,000 during 2020- 2022 period due to Covid pandemic. Grade 2 disability rate was 6-8 % while the child leprosy rate was stagnant around 10% during the last 2 decades.
