Regional Skin Clinics

Regional Skin Clinics are specialized medical facilities that manage all patients with leprosy. These clinics are supervised by a consultant dermatologist and are established in at least one district per region. The clinics are equipped with diagnostic facilities and provide free treatment to all patients with leprosy. These clinics play a crucial role in managing and treating leprosy, ensuring that patients receive timely and effective care.

Additionally, they provide supportive blood investigations necessary for follow-up, ensuring timely and accurate diagnosis of the disease.

Treatment

Regional Skin Clinics provide Multi-drug therapy (MDT) and other necessary drugs for leprosy treatment, along with access to physiotherapy services, special appliances and footwear, which the ALC coordinates. The network ensures the provision of leprosy-specific medicines other than MDT to patients in regional clinics. Most clinics have slit skin smear facilities, skin biopsies, and supportive blood investigations required for follow-up. All services are provided free of charge.
