Batticaloa district is a high risk district of leprosy with child leprosy transmission interrupted only in 2 DSDs. Annually about 200 new leprosy cases detect in Batticaloa District. New case detection rate is highest in Batticaloa District due to implementation of active cases detection through volunteer training. Further Child leprosy rate is highest in Batticaloa District.
