Matale district is a low-risk District with interrupted child leprosy transmission in all Divisional Secretariat Divisions. Pallepola, Naula, Laggala-pallegama and Ukuwela DSDs have achieved the eliminated status of leprosy while Yatawaththa and Rattota DSDs are progressing to achieve leprosy elimination status with in the next 4 years.
